Professor Avik Dandapat is an implant dentist, educator and clinical director with over 25 years of experience in implant dentistry. His clinical practice is limited to implant dentistry, with a particular focus on complex implant rehabilitation, advanced surgical procedures and full-arch treatment.

Education and postgraduate training

Professor Dandapat qualified BDS from the University of Birmingham in 2001, having undertaken his undergraduate dental training from 1996–2001. He subsequently gained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners – MFGDP(UK).

His postgraduate development focused extensively on implant dentistry. He completed the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of England – Dip.Imp.Dent RCS(Eng), followed by the Advanced Certificate in Implant Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of England – Adv.Cert.Imp RCS(Eng) in 2007.

In 2008, he completed his MSc in Implant Dentistry at the University of Leeds, consolidating his academic and clinical training in implantology.

He is also an Associate Fellow of the College of General Dentistry and a Full Fellow of the British College of Dental Implant Surgery – FBCDIS (UK).

Since 2005, Professor Dandapat has held a senior clinical leadership role within the Dental Implant Centre Group, where he is now Director of Clinical Operations. His practice encompasses the diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical and restorative management of implant patients, including complex and advanced cases — with particular interests in immediate implant placement and loading, bone and soft-tissue reconstruction, digital implant dentistry, full-arch rehabilitation and advanced implant surgery.

Alongside his clinical work, Professor Dandapat has developed a substantial role in postgraduate dental education. He holds the title of Honorary Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Madrid, and is the founding President of the British College of Dental Implant Surgery (BCDIS) — an organisation established to support education, professional development and standards within implant dentistry. He also serves as Educational Director of the BCDIS Diploma in Implant Dentistry, with responsibility for its clinical and educational direction.

Professor Dandapat lectures nationally and internationally in implant dentistry and is actively involved in postgraduate clinical teaching, surgical training and mentoring, including as a STAC Sedation Training Mentor.

With more than 25 years in dentistry and implant dentistry, his current professional focus brings together clinical implant dentistry, education and professional development — treating implant patients, developing clinicians entering the field, and advancing structured postgraduate implant education in the UK.

I have started and finished my treatment with them and I can they were amazing. From the 1st point of contact up to the final appointment. I did an 1 implant and all went smooth. They were patient, attentive, friendly and cautious. A decision to do an implant is not easy due to price and so many steps and also because it involves surgery. The process itself is not quick. But Dental Implant Centre have taken care of me throughout the journey, a bif thank you to Ania and Felicia. I truly recommend and would do it again with them (hopefully not 😂). I was blown away by the incredible work done at Twyford Dental Implant Centre. The use of 3D printing technology to create my crown was truly impressive. The crown fit perfectly and looks absolutely natural. The entire process from printing the crown to fitting it was quick, efficient and painless, and the staff was incredibly professional and caring. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of dental implants or other restorative procedures.

Dr Avik Dandapat is a leader in his field and exhudes confidence which as a patient is what you want to see. He is ably assisted by Felicia who put me at ease before the procedure answering all of my questions. The practice uses all of the latest technology to ensure that the implant procedure goes without issue. The implant installation itself was totally painless and a tempory crown was also fitted. Only a slight discomfort for a day or so afterwards but nothing a paracetomal didn't resolve. A nice touch was Felicia giving out her mobile in case of any issues 24/7. In summary I would highly recommend and the process was far quicker and less traumatic than I expected.
